Who else could use an easy keto baked chicken recipe?
Probably all of us, because let’s be real…the same old chicken night after night gets pretty darn boring.
Remember my bruschetta chicken? This one is just as easy and flavorful!
But now I’m coming at you with this baked ranch chicken.
You won’t believe how simple it is! Plus, the chicken turns out so juicy and flavorful thanks to the way we cook it.
And the fact that it’s smothered in cheddar and bacon doesn’t hurt things either. ๐
Whenever we serve up a cheesy main dish, we like to keep the sides more simple. We served this with our charred green beans this time around, but it’s also good with sauteed broccoli.

Chicken Breast – I’m using boneless, skinless chicken breasts for this recipe. You’ll want to pound them out into even thickness so they cook evenly. You could also use boneless chicken thighs for this recipe.
Mayonnaise – I’d recommend trying out this keto avocado oil mayo! We love it, but any mayonnaise will work as long as it is low carb. I promise the chicken won’t taste like mayonnaise! What it will do is keep the chicken nice and moist so it doesn’t dry out when baking.
Ranch Seasoning – We also really love this garden ranch seasoning from Primal Palate! It’s a good quality ranch seasoning, but you can also use other brands like Hidden Valley.
Cheddar Cheese – Some freshly grated cheddar cheese will get nice and melty on the ranch chicken while it bakes.
Bacon – You’ll need some pre-cooked, crumbled bacon for this recipe. If you are trying to contain the mess and keep things simple try out this easy air fryer bacon recipe!
Tomatoes & Green Onions – Along with the bacon you’ll top the baked ranch chicken with some diced tomatoes and green onions just before serving!
We use Thrive Market for a lot of our specialty ingredients and keto snacks or products. Their prices tend to be cheaper than the local stores and I love that you can so easily sort products by diet.
Like Costco, this is a membership site, but we find that it’s more than worth it based on the amount we save over the regular grocery store.
They have monthly or yearly plans. Check it out here.
The mayo melts into the chicken keeping it super moist – and the mayo haters won’t even know it’s there!
Cheese, ranch, bacon…everyone’s favorites all in one dish!
This recipe is perfect for a quick weeknight meal!
How To Make Baked Ranch Chicken:
Prepare – To get started you’ll need to pound the chicken out to an even thickness and prepare the bacon if you haven’t already. Place the chicken between two pieces of plastic wrap before pounding to avoid making a mess in your kitchen. Season both sides of the chicken with some salt and pepper.
Mayo – We’re going to make this keto baked chicken extra juicy and moist by smothering it in seasoned mayonnaise before baking. Don’t worry – even the mayo haters will enjoy this recipe. It doesn’t taste like mayo and it mostly just melts away leaving a juicy, flavorful chicken. Add the mayo and ranch seasoning to a mixing bowl and stir until well combined.
Coat – Start coating each piece of the chicken on both sides in the mayonnaise and ranch seasoning mixture. Place the chicken breasts into a prepared 9×13 baking dish.
Bake – Bake this for about 35 minutes or until it’s fully cooked. We use a meat thermometer to check for doneness.
I love using this meat thermometer for making sure the meat is fully cooked! Easy for beginners & absolutely worth the low cost. Just stick it in the thickest part of the meat to check for doneness. This thermometer is also magnetic so it’s easy to store right on the side of the fridge or oven for easy access! Get it on Amazon.
Substitutions:
Mayonnaise: Sub fat free Greek yogurt for the mayonnaise.
Ranch Seasoning: Swap out the packaged stuff for homemade! Use the seasonings from my keto ranch dressing instead.
Cheese: Try it with a different type of cheese like Parmesan or pepper jack!
Spice: Turn up the heat with some red pepper flakes, cayenne pepper, or even some diced jalapenos!
Chicken: You could use chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts. This would be tasty with pork chops too!
FAQs:
We’re baking these boneless skinless chicken breasts at 375 for 30-40 minutes. The best way to tell when chicken is done is to use a thermometer. I’ve linked to my favorite instant read thermometer above! I love that it’s magnetic. We keep ours on the side of the fridge so it’s easy to find and grab when we need it.
You can keep any leftover baked ranch chicken stored in an airtight container in your refrigerator for about 3 days. It can be reheated in the oven or in the microwave.

Since being diagnosed as a diabetic 18 months ago…I’ve found my culinary choices extremely limited! Pretty much the “same ol’ same ol’…” I cook pretty much for myself and my family, and am always looking for something new. I came across this deceptively simple recipe a couple days ago, and decided to try it this weekend…sometimes, a new recipe just doesn’t stand up to the hype…this one did! I have to try these new recipes on myself, before I can prepare them for the rest of the family…they are very reluctant to try anything “new…” I absolutely loved this…!

Hi Rick! I’m sorry to hear you’ve been struggling to find new recipes. Our goal with this blog is to create low carb recipes that the whole family will enjoy. More often than not, people don’t even realize they’re eating a low carb version of a recipe so I hope you find the site helpful!

On my computer, it seems that the amounts of mayonnaise and ranch dressing seasoning are missing from the recipe!! Have I overlooked something? I can’t find those measurements anywhere in the blog. I know the measurements will be relative to the amount of servings one would be preparing. The written recipe is for 4 (four) chicken breasts. I just need a starting place as I have never used mayonnaise to cook chicken before and I don’t know how much to coat the chicken with!! Thanks for your help and your efforts on a BEAUTIFUL and USEFUL website!!

Hi Susan! The amounts are there, but they’re linked to the products I used. If you turn off the ad blocker on your browser you’ll be able to see the full recipe and anything else missing from the post. ๐

Do you have a cookbook with these recipes. With all the advertisements it makes it a little hard to make.
Karly Campbell says
Hi Terry! I’m sorry that you’re finding the ads distracting. We try to keep them as minimal as possible. I do have some ebooks with recipes in them, but not all recipes are in books. You can find the books here: https://thatlowcarblife.com/store/ Alternately, you can hit the print recipe when you’re ready to cook and either print the recipe out or just use the print page to cook off of – it’s less distracting because the ads are removed. ๐

Hi Karly, greetings from New Zealand. Yes, somebody in New Zealand follows your blog. We made the Baked Ranch Chicken yesterday and it was delicious. Thank you for coming up with so many nice recipes. A question: would it be possible to also give metric measurements in your recipes?
Karly Campbell says
Hi Ans! So glad you’re enjoying the recipes! Unfortunately, I don’t have the metric measurements, but there are lots of online converters out there. ๐
