If you’re craving Chex Mix, you’ll want to check out these keto roasted walnuts! We’re using all the same flavors that are in a traditional Chex Mix, but we’re just using it to season walnuts. They are so tasty and hard to resist!
Would you like to save this recipe?
My mom got in the habit of bringing around a bowl of homemade Chex Mix during the holidays and now I just can’t handle letting the season pass without that salty, savory, crunchy snack mix!
Of course, traditional Chex Mix is loaded with all kinds of carbs, so I decided to just get creative and swap out all the crunchy bits (cereal, pretzels, crackers, etc.) and dump the seasoning over walnuts.
Y’all this is the best snack I’ve had in a while. Big, bold flavors and it’s low carb!
If you liked my ranch roasted nuts, you’re going to love these roasted walnuts!
How to:
To start, you’ll need 3 cups of halved walnuts.
I’m sure you could use any nut you have on hand – even a mix of nuts would be good here!
The seasoning blend is a mixture of melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, tabasco, seasoned salt, onion powder, and garlic powder.
If you’re sensitive to salt or your nuts are already salted to start, you’ll want to take it easy on the seasoned salt. Feel free to reduce it if you don’t like that salty punch.
Just mix everything together and spread it out onto a rimmed baking sheet.
These roast at 250 degrees for 30 minutes. You will want to be sure to stir them every 10 minutes so they don’t burn.
That’s it! Roasty, toasty, buttery walnuts with big, bold, savory flavor!
Swaps & Substitutions:
Swap the walnuts for any nut you prefer, or use mixed nuts!
After roasting, toss in a cup of cheese whisps for some extra crunch.

Is there a swap for the butter? Egg whites, olive oil–what do you think might be best, if at all?
Karly Campbell says
Hmm, I haven’t tried these with anything but the butter. Olive oil may work, but I’m not certain.
Kristine says
Thanks, I’ll try experimenting, comparing, and will let you know if it works out!
Kim says
When finished cooking should the nuts be completely dry? Wet?
Karly Campbell says
They’ll be dry. ๐

Raw nuts?
Karly Campbell says
I’m not sure what you’re asking.
Erin Horaski says
Delicious!
mandy says
any substitute for Worcestershire sauce?
Karly Campbell says
Worcestershire sauce has such a strong, savory flavor. I think soy sauce may have a bit of that flavor, but you’d probably want to use low sodium soy and unsalted nuts…it still may be a bit salty at that. You’ll have to experiment and see what works best. ๐

I made these for Christmas, and really like them! My husband makes homemade Chex mix every Christmas. I made these, and add a small amount of his Chex mix to my Chex mix nuts, and its perfect. Or just as is, these are terrific, and I will make these often! I love nuts and these are a super tasty way to add some heart healthy nuts to my snacking!

Fahrenheit.
Karen says
Oh yummmm! Would this work with garbanzo beans for a crunchy snack, not quite so fatty but high in protein and fiber, do you think?
Karly Campbell says
Hmm, I’m really not sure. It should work with other types of nuts, but not sure on the beans.

Pork rinds might be a good addition as well. Just a thought.
