Cook Time 6 minutes
Total Time 16 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 large yellow onion
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Slice the onion into ¼ inch thick slices.
  2. Add the egg to a shallow dish along with 1 tablespoon of water. Beat well.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients to a second shallow dish and stir to combine.
  4. Dip each onion ring first in the egg and then into the almond flour mixture, making sure to coat the onion entirely.
  5. Place in an even layer in an air fryer basket and spritz with oil.
  6. Air fry at 380 degrees for 6 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

To fry in oil, heat oil in a deep skillet to 350 degrees. Add onion rings to the pan, being careful not to overcrowd, and cook for 4 minutes, flipping halfway through cooking, or until the onion rings are golden brown. The breading doesn't stick quite as well when frying in oil vs. the air fryer, but they taste amazing!
